About
Who are you?
Online I go by Joe Schmoe, needless to say that’s not my real name. If you need to know it, then you probably already do. Put most simply I’m a nerd who tries to learn/do a lot to keep myself from doing nothing.
What do you do?
Professionally
Currently I work in cybersecurity as an Incident Response analyst. I really like the job, it gives me the opportunity to learn a bit and provided when the job isn’t slow it can be pretty fun. I think that it is pretty cool working on dissecting an incident and helping resolve it. Plus, I really like the feeling of feeling that I am actually being helpful and admittedly it’s pretty cool to get to say that I do this for a living. Outside of work I like to work on personal projects that often bleed into my professional work but isn’t isolated to only improving my work skills. I am a sucker for geeky and nerdy cybersecurity/hacker stuff. I often compete in CTFs, I participate in bug bounty programs, I like to keep tabs on cyber news, and I like learning new things.
Recreationally
As stated above I like to work on personal projects that I’ll post on this site. I have a lot of things that I want to work on, but my projects are usually motivated by a lack of something that I was searching for or just simply how cool something sounds. For example in college I made a cheaper cobbled together version of the Tastic RFID Thief cause I had seen the tactic of bumping into people and stealing their credit card so often in movies/games. Another example would be I submitted a report that got accepted for the NFL’s Vulnerability Disclosure Program and had it accepted! Completely AFK, I like hiking, walking/running, archery (not very good at it yet), and attempting to play guitar. Also I’m trying to learn Russian still, my grammer needs a lot of work. If you can read Russian, or paste it in a translator it if you are lame: Здразвуете, пожалуйста говорит с меня. Я нужна много изучает. Спасибо! :)
What do you want to do?
Professionally
I’d to eventually progress into DFIR as it seems really cool, really stressful, but really cool. I got this idea after taking the HTB CDSA. I’d also like to get back into doing Bug Bounty Programs, both for sake of doing something cool and potentially getting some money while doing it. Additionally, I always have more ideas for projects that I want to post on here.
Recreationally
I’d like to get back into video game development a bit, maybe develop a cheat menu for an old game. I’d also like to eventually do a marathon (up to a half marathon so far :) ) and I really want to go see those GIANT redwood trees in person, they’re huge.
